Soul Detox - Week 1

Soul Detox - Week 1

Getting Started

What insight, principle or observation from this weekend’s message did you find to be most helpful, eye opening or troubling? Explain.

Digging Deeper

1.The Bible talks about a person being composed of the mind, the heart, the body, and the soul. What does each part do?

What is different about each part? Which are eternal?

We are at different times controlled by each of these parts, for example, when we are thirsty enough, the body’s need takes over. What is good and bad when we are controlled by each part?

2. Why is it important to ask, “Do I have a soul?”

3. Take turns reading the following passages:

  • Proverbs 4:23

  • Matthew 16:23

  • Deuteronomy 4:29

Then answer:

  • What does your soul do?

  • Why do you need to detox it?

4. A restless soul never finds rest. It is seeks and never finds. Why is that?

  • In what ways do you see people/society pursuing things they think will satisfy their restless soul?

  • What type of restlessness do you experience?

5. A thirsty soul:

  • Robs you of peace and fills your life with busyness

  • Robs you of contentment

  • Robs you of confidence and courage

  • Undermines your sense of meaning and purpose

  • Steals from you direction and guidance

  • Causes you to wander aimlessly in search of a material oasis

  • Robs you of joy

What does it mean to have a thirsty soul?

6. Take turns reading the following passages:

  • Psalm 42:1

  • John 4:13

  • Matthew 11:28-29

Then answer:

  • Are you living as if you have a soul?

  • Is your soul satisfied?

Challenge

This week read Ephesians chapter 1 and 2 five times.

Jesus is offering you rest for your soul, will you take it?
