Adulting - Week 1

Adulting

What happens when people stop wanting to grow up?

My Story:

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

Digging Deeper:

  • What from this week's sermon, was new, surprising or stood out to you?

  • What is the “Peter Pan Syndrome”?

  • Who in your life or popular culture is an example of peter pan syndrome?

Read aloud Matthew 18:2-4 and 1 Corinthians 13:9-12

  • In light of these passages, what is the difference between being childish and being child like?

  • Give some examples of being childish

  • Give some examples of being child like

    • Here are some examples from the sermon:

      • Expectant vs. Entitled

      • Joy in the moment vs. Complaining

      • Grace and Truth vs Manipulation

  • What does it mean to humble oneself like a child?

  • Why do you think this is important for Jesus’ kingdom?

Application:

At Foothills, we have one goal. To see you walk fully in your faith in Jesus.

This is called being an adult. Adults define the win: they consider, think thru, weigh truth and what is truly important concerning life. They don’t want to waste it, but enjoy the journey God has gifted them with.

  • Adults are the ones who fight for us and protect us

  • Adults diagnose and care for us as Dr.’s, nurses, paramedics

  • Adults operate transportation grids

  • Adults teach, lead, build, and shape.

How is God challenging you to be a more courageous adult?
