Bootcamp Family Challenge – Week 4

The Parent’s Mission

Icebreaker:

  • What fictional family would you be a member of?

Going deeper:

  • In light of this week’s sermon, what is new information, challenged, or stood out to you?

Read aloud Ephesians 22:1-6

  • Why is being respected more valuable than great riches?
  • What do rich people and poor people have in common?
    • What should we learn from this?
  • What blessings come to those who humbly fear the Lord?
  • What promise does v.6 give those who properly train their children?
    • Why is it important for parents to believe and apply this principle?
  • Why is it easier to train a child while they are young as opposed to trying to correct behavior when they are older?
  • What does Pastor Doug mean when he says, “When you focus on a child’s comfort over their character your child’s character will be underdeveloped”?
  • In what ways can you develop your child’s character?
  • How do you teach love, responsibility, boundaries and respect?

Challenge:

Be Intentional.

    • You have to be consistent. It doesn’t matter what you say you believe, it matters how you live out what you believe.
    • Set priorities and keep them.
      • Lifestyle priorities: work out, then work out. Be active, then be active.
      • Spiritual priorities: we go to church as a family. We read, pray, together.

How will you be intentional this week?
